OH CANADA! - Happy 150th!

The most amazing country in the world is celebrating it's 150 birthday this year, Canada! We may be a young country on a global level, but we Canadians sure have taught the old guard a few new tricks over the past hundred and fifty years! I am damn proud to follow in the foot prints of my fellow Canadians and call myself a Canadian! Happy Birthday Canada & Here's To The Next 150!

 In the 38 years I've called this great nation my home, I've ventured as far east as Toronto as far west as Tofino and as far north as the North West Territories. So keeping with the Canadian theme, we took our first family vacation to "Beautiful British Columbia," end point Kelowna and what better way to do it than as a family road trip.

 So operation, "Slemko's Hit The Road," was set in motion to depart June 18th, 2017. With our SUV looking like a car Clark Griswold would be proud to drive, we were off on our grand adventure. However, our car may be Griswold worthy, the trip itself was not. Our adventure couldn't have been more perfect!

  I commented on a post I saw on Instagram recently where the user asked "What was your most memorable fishing experience?" To which I responded with, "going on a fly fishing trip in Arizona with an astronaut." Rain - Pain - GAINS

  PART I - Rain Skinny Water Hunting     It's an early, rainy, windy September morning. A perfect time to re-introduce a friend to creek fishing, right? Right! In my mind it's the perfect weather to chase some Southern Alberta Brown Trout. However, I am not too sure my buddy was so keen when I arrived at his house at 7 am.   I give him a pump up speech about, "No Pain No Gain!" and how the weather is going to change during our two hour drive. I also distract him with the fact that we are going to be fishing private water that hasn't been touched since June. So he starts to come around, maybe it was the coffee that perked him up or maybe just maybe my solid story telling skills got the juices flowing. Regardless, we were on the road and what we were about do was worth the early start.  Since my buddy, Derek, has never been to this part of Alberta. I had to treat him to a warm up lap and see if he was WORTHY, ha ha, of "private water." So off
